Introduction
"Stock Info Monitor" (the "Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that shows stock quotes you configure in a bottom bar on sites you enable, and provides local price alerts based on your settings. This policy explains how the Extension handles data.
Information Collection
The Extension does not collect, upload, or share any personally identifiable information. All configuration (stock symbols, price alerts, site whitelist, display settings, UI language, display preferences, etc.) is stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local) and is not sent to our servers.
Data stored locally
- Stock symbols you add and display preferences
- Price alerts you configure
- Per-site enable/disable whitelist settings
- UI language, theme, colors, bar height, font size, and layout
- Privacy mode preferences: hover-to-show, monochrome, boss key, Excel disguise
- Bar visibility state (toggled via keyboard shortcut)
This data stays in your browser extension storage only. It is removed when you uninstall the Extension or clear its data.
Network requests
The Extension requests public market quotes from data sources you use (Tencent Finance, Sina Finance, East Money). Requests include only the stock symbols you configured — no personal identifiers.
Data Usage
The Extension uses local settings and quote data only to:
- Show stock names and prices in a bottom bar on whitelisted pages
- Display intraday charts, OHLC stats, and a 5-level order book on hover
- Check and trigger price alerts locally based on your settings
- Remember your display and privacy preferences
Data Sharing
The Extension does not share your configuration with third parties. Quote requests go directly to public APIs, not through servers we operate.
Data Security
- Configuration is stored only in the browser (chrome.storage.local)
- No personal data is uploaded to the developer's servers
- Quote requests contain only symbols you added
Permission Description
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions solely to provide the features above:
- storage: Save your configuration locally (watchlist, price alerts, site whitelist, display settings, UI language, hover-to-show / monochrome preferences, etc.)
- activeTab: Show the quote bar on the current page when the site is enabled
- host_permissions: Access public stock quote APIs
- declarativeNetRequest: Add a Referer header only for Sina quote requests (hq.sinajs.cn) so quotes load correctly; does not read or modify page content or collect any information
- alarms: Locally check on a schedule whether your price alerts should fire; does not collect or upload any data
- notifications: Show desktop notifications when a price alert triggers (optionally disguised as calendar/spreadsheet reminders); notifications relate only to your watchlist
- Keyboard shortcut: Toggle bar visibility locally. macOS: Cmd+Shift+S; Windows/Linux: Ctrl+Shift+H. No data collection or network requests
Third-Party Services
Stock data comes from third-party public APIs (Tencent Finance, Sina Finance, East Money) under their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party accuracy or availability.
Children's Privacy
This app is suitable for users of all ages and does not collect any personal information.
Data Deletion
You can delete your data at any time by:
- Uninstalling the Extension or clearing browser extension data deletes all local configuration
